save the cyclists! (in italian)

due to times' recent campaign for cyclists' safety, a group of local cyclists tries to put the attention to italian streets... here:

"La scorsa settimana il Times di Londra ha lanciato una campagna a sostegno delle sicurezza dei ciclisti che sta riscuotendo un notevole successo (oltre 20.000 adesioni in soli 5 giorni).
In Gran Bretagna hanno deciso di correre ai ripari e di chiedere un impegno alla politica per far fronte agli oltre 1.275 ciclisti uccisi sulle strade britanniche negli ultimi 10 anni. In 10 anni in Italia sono state 2.556 le vittime su due ruote, più del doppio di quelle del Regno Unito.
Questa è una cifra vergognosa per un paese che più di ogni altro ha storicamente dato allo sviluppo della bicicletta e del ciclismo ed è per questo motivo che chiediamo che anche in Italia vengano adottati gli 8 punti del manifesto del Times:

Gli autoarticolati che entrano in un centro urbano devono, per legge, essere dotati di sensori, allarmi sonori che segnalino la svolta, specchi supplementari e barre di sicurezza che evitino ai ciclisti di finire sotto le ruote.
I 500 incroci più pericolosi del paese devono essere individuati, ripensati e dotati di semafori preferenziali per i ciclisti e di specchi che permettano ai camionisti di vedere eventuali ciclisti presenti sul lato.
Dovrà essere condotta un’indagine nazionale per determinare quante persone vanno in bicicletta in Italia e quanti ciclisti vengono uccisi o feriti.
Il 2% del budget dell’ANAS dovrà essere destinato alla creazione di piste ciclabili di nuova generazione.
La formazione di ciclisti e autisti deve essere migliorata e la sicurezza dei ciclisti deve diventare una parte fondamentale dei test di guida.
30 km/h deve essere il limite di velocità massima nelle aree residenziali sprovviste di piste ciclabili.
I privati devono essere invitati a sponsorizzare la creazione di piste ciclabili e superstrade ciclabili prendendo ad esempio lo schema di noleggio bici londinese sponsorizzato dalla Barclays
Ogni città deve nominare un commissario alla ciclabilità per promuovere le riforme.

Cari direttori, il manifesto del Times è stato dettato dal buon senso e da una forte dose di senso civico. È proprio perché queste tematiche non hanno colore politico che chiediamo un contributo da tutti voi affinché anche in Italia il senso civico e il buon senso prendano finalmente il sopravvento.
Vi chiediamo di essere promotori di quel cambiamento di cui il paese ha bisogno e di aiutarci a salvare molte vite umane.
Chiunque volesse contribuire al buon esito di questa campagna può condividere questa lettera attraverso Facebook, attraverso il proprio blog o sito, attraverso Twitter utilizzando l’hashtag #salvaiciclisti e, ovviamente, inviandola via mail ai principali quotidiani italiani.

and with the help of some pieces of metal...,

plus some terrible weldings....

and some old bike parts....

turned into a "christianialikebike"...
however... forget about the story...for me it was a "happy ending" (specially after stopping for a while with bicycle constructions and assembling)

Small report from 5 days "val verdon val de l'ubaye" cycling tour:

i had a great time with friend jimmy, and my new "lino zini" framed bike.
it's cool to ride a street bike on tour. some difficulties uphill.. but who cares if outside there are 40 degrees and your bottom aches...provence - alpes - cote d'azur are beautiful!!!!
all were friendly and the villages are somehow still "villages" !

so happy not to have squandered my money in italy this summer. france will see me soon again...

it's called like that don't know (yet) why, but those simple, elegant, bikes have the name SPICCIOLA in italian. it's not finished yet, but i like the colors. most of the beauty is given by the brooks saddle, obviously! she looks like a super expensive cutie, but actually the only expensive part was the saddle, the rest are pieces i got from people around, ah no.. the rims where 15 euro for both (they're new); well i bought them way before fixie fashion came out... that's the reason maybe

I finally brought the bike to a new look, and the astonishing pinstriping of explo75 gave her the final touch!! i'm quite happy with it, the bmx tires and the shortened handle bar make it less granny and more "sporty, sexy" looking! here are some pix:

finally my homebrewing beer kit brought my little babies to life!
here's the label. it's a cycling monk....

the idea of homebrewing, makes me really feel good, and i would like to improve more & more :)
2 guys in my hometown started their adventure 12 years ago and believe me, their beer is awesome!!... let's make a toast to homebrewing!!

just to make things clear: I wanted to try a fixie, in order to understand why I make fun of fixed people and their lifestyle.
result: although these bikes could be very fun for the "compact" style you adopt, it's more difficult to ride, unnatural, and most of the times you're thinking "oh I'm just so supercool to ride one of these fixies...."
well, I enjoyed my little zombiefixie (a found silvestrini of end 70ies) the last days, but I leave all to you, you wannabe messengers: the fun, the coolness and all the rest, while i enjoy a superboring, uncool, citybike. YO! OY!

It's another graziella folding bike, found without wheels some years ago, now she (and of course me) is honoured by great pinstriper EXPLO,

who gave her a new look!!
Nice evening, listening to Rush and other progressive stuff.
I'm gonna give the bike as a present to the studio I'm working with right now (that's why "3D").

"L'EROICA" is a cyclotouristic rally held mainly on gravel roads, organized since 1997. It is a special "race" from every point of view. It proposes surroundings and scenes from the "heroic" times of cycling: dust or mud, no organized service, vintage refreshments, wonderful and demanding roads, great ability to adapt and to suffer...

it used to be my "citybike" for a short period. I'm leaving it in the rain, in order to rust tha frame a bit more (it's a nice colour actually), it's a good frame from the 80ies, new (orange) rims, 2 brakes... yes.. ONE LESS FIXIE!

luigeena is a solid city bike, with big apples and a super brooks saddle. I love it, but it's rather a woman's bike, that's why i don't use it that often (frame: it's an Atala cruiser from the 60ies).

Formerly this was a "Rita", an italian folding bike of mid 70ies turned into a lowrider experiment...new colors (also on rims)...the saddel is a banana one bought in A'dam in TheChopperdome.
